Brooch
After the Festival, 1888 by Francis Davis Millet is the inspiration for the 1.75" oval porcelain keepsake brooch. Millet's historical figure paintings were based on extensive antiquarian research. The cool, silver tonalities of his work, the woman's Greek costume, and her mood of reverie derives from the artist's admiration of the paintings of Sir Lawrence Alma-Tadema's (1836-1912).

Reproductions
The Voyage of Life Childhood
A perennial favorite among visitors to the Institute is Thomas Cole's The Voyage of Life, 1839-40, oil on canvas. This masterful series of allegorical paintings was commissioned by prominent New York banker and philanthropist Samuel Ward, Sr. in March of 1839. As the title conveys, the subject is life, depicted in four distinct stages: Childhood, Youth, Manhood, and Old Age. The series compares life to a journey through an elaborate landscape of time. The reproductions are 11" x 14" format, full color with a matte finish.
Sku# 2290 Childhood - $3
Sku# 2347 Youth - $3
Sku# 2310 Manhood - $3
Sku# 2315 Old Age - $3
