Security Guards

Relief (as needed) or part time positions become available periodically in our security department as described below. Successful candidates must be available to work all shifts, especially nights, weekends and holidays. Our security staff is required to respond to in a professional and courteous manner all interactions and to respond quickly with professional judgment during emergencies.

Gallery Guard – ensure safety and security of Institute visitors, staff, faculty, students, art collection and museum buildings by protecting against theft, vandalism and fire. Respond to visitor/staff needs and inquiries in a professional and courteous manner. Gallery hours are Tuesdays – Saturdays, 10 am to 5 pm and Sundays 1 pm to 5 pm. Additional hours may be needed for special events on evenings and weekends. Hiring rate $8.62 hourly

Campus Patrol Guard - Provide security detail for Institute campus by performing rounds of campus, checking for safety and security problems and taking appropriate action. Must be able to react appropriately and quickly in emergency situations.  Investigate accidents and incidents and submit timely reports. Relief personnel provide coverage during regular staff absences or due to special events or needs. Relief personnel need is greatest during the midnight to eight am shift.  Hiring rate: $10.93 hourly

Dispatch Officer – Perform duties as dispatcher for security office. Excellent interpersonal and telephone skills required. Must be able to operate communications equipment such as two-way radio, CCTV and security alarms. Ability to effectively communicate with staff, students, faculty and visitors an integral part of position. Must be able to react appropriately and quickly in emergency situations.  Previous experience as radio dispatcher/telephone operator preferred. Relief personnel need is greatest during the midnight to eight am shift. Hiring rate $8.62 hourly

Qualifications – NYS Guard licensure required. Previous experience and familiarity with security equipment preferred but will train successful candidate. AAS degree in security related field desired.
