Finalists may be invited for an onsite visit prior to accepting residency. If possible, they are encouraged to take advantage of the visit to assess the campus and facilities for their own needs as well as teaching.
Finalists will be compensated for travel expenses for this visit.

There is no fee for housing, studio, or facility usage. Residency includes daily meal plan within the PrattMWP college schedule. Artists-in-residence receive two stipend payments of $1,250 in September and in January for a total of $2,500. This stipend is guaranteed, intended to help offset the cost of living and support the studio practice.

Artists teaching non-credit classes and/or workshops in our Community Arts Education (CAE) program will be paid bi-weekly compensation as a CAE Instructor. Classes are subject to enrollment guidelines which means they may be canceled if they do not reach minimum enrollment. Due to these guidelines, income from a class is not guaranteed.

A CAE course may be up to 12 classes. Adult classes are generally 3 hours long for a total of 36 contact hours paid in six payments. However, AIR work closely with the CAE Coordinator to find the best class length or workshop format to fit the proposed class curriculum and the audience being sought.

MWPAI is not responsible for artist’s transportation to and during residency. A vehicle is recommended but not required. Artists are responsible for daily cost of living and art materials for their own practice.
