Frederick, Thomas, and Maria Proctor agreed that arts and culture are the foundation of a great community.

Children assemble in front of the installation of their Frank Stella-inspired artworks based
on a project developed by teaching artist Linda Evans for ArtReach 2010.
Nearly 300 enthusiastic children, ages 8 through 12, enjoyed the Summer ArtReach program which took place July 13 through 30. Participating community centers included Big Brothers Big Sisters, Boys & Girls Club, Court Street Children’s Center, Neighborhood Center, Summer Fun Camp at Lourdes, Thea Bowman House, UCSD RSIG, and Volunteer Center of the Mohawk Valley. Artists Tina Betz, Nancie Cooney, Linda Evans, Colleen Luczak, Pamela Lynch, and Heather McCutcheon inspired children to explore mixed media assemblages, relief, print techniques, and landscapes; while learning the distinction between abstract and representational art through the work of Frank Stella, Thomas Cole, Stuart Davis, Gino Severini, Georgia O’Keefe, and Philip Guston. The exhibition was on view throughout August, to the delight of the Museum’s summer visitors, many of whom remarked on the explosion of color in the ArtReach exhibition.
Special thanks to
The John Ben Snow Memorial Trust
for sponsoring the program this year.
