This is a serious portfolio development course that will focus on building and improving drawing skills, an important criterion for art college admission. Students will work from the still life and figure (no nude models), as well as self-portrait.

It is recommended that students have observational drawing skills prior to taking this class.
High school students will work with a variety of traditional sculpture materials and techniques with the human figure as subject matter. A clothed model will be used in this course. Gesture, observational skills, and creative problem solving will be explored along with instruction in a variety of fabrication skills and 3-D Design practices. Materials will include clay, plaster, wire, wood, and mixed media with tools and materials provided through the course lab fee. This course will include figure drawing.
Personal portfolio consultation with the instructor and assistance with photo documentation of 3-Dimensional works executed in the class will be provided. This course is geared to the student who is thinking of pursuing a professional art degree at a competitive college or university.
