All Levels – must be 18 years or older

Time: Wednesday 6:30 to 9:30 p.m. Period: January 18 through April 25 (14 weeks)

Gestural drawing, contour drawing and other methods of recording the figure are the foundation of this course. A nude model will be used.  A supply list will be provided upon registration.

Drawing The Figure (New Course)

All Levels – must be 18 years or older

Time: Thursday 2 to 5 p.m. Period: January 19 through March 8 (8 weeks)

This course offers several different exercises and ideas about drawing the human figure.  A nude model will be used as our subject.  Emphasis will be placed on linework, proportion, and the illusion of light on form through shading.  Beginners and seasoned artists are both welcomed.  A supply list will be provided upon registration.

Communicating through Comics (New Course)

All Levels - must be 15 years and older

Time: Tuesday 6:30 to 9:30 p.m. Period: January 17 through April 24 (14 weeks)

This course will explore the use of comics and graphic novels as communication tools. Critiques focus on characters, concept, drawing, composition and sequential logic. Students are encouraged to develop their own comics. A supply list will be provided upon registration.

Illustration (New Course)

All Levels - must be 14 years and older

Time: Monday 6 to 9 p.m. Period: January 23 through February 27 (6 weeks)

The objectives of this course is to develop drawing skills through in-class instructions and practice. Students will learn the formal elements of drawing: line, shape, value, texture, and linear perspective. Students will also develop an understanding of composition and format, and develop critiquing skills.  Through this process students will learn to achieve line and tone to arrive at an integrated image while working with a variety of media, including, charcoal pencils, colored pencils, and inks. Students will also be required to keep a sketchbook for outside assignments.  A supply list will be provided upon registration.
