MULTIPLE DANCE CLASS TUITION DISCOUNTS
2 classes-10%; 3 classes-15%; 4 classes-20%; 5+ classes-25%
Multiple tuition discounts will be granted only at the time of initial registration. This discount applies to students taking multiple dance classes and/or immediate family members. Discounts cannot be applied to subsequent registrations.
RETURNING STUDENTS should register for the same level they attended previously unless the instructor invites the student to advance. New students are invited to discuss placement with the program coordinator. Please be advised that some changes may be made during the first month of classes.
PERFORMING OPPORTUNITIES available through the dance program range from informal end-of-semester demonstrations by the Children’s Program to the Annual Spring Dance Concerts. Participation in any of the performances is offered to those students who demonstrate consistent effort, interest and ability. Please note that not all classes are performance track. The Dance program also produces it’s own production of The Nutcracker. Students in Ballet Levels 3-7 may be invited to perform.
ANNUAL SPRING DANCE CONCERT: When registering in the spring please note that some performance track classes will meet for a total of seventeen weeks and a higher tuition will reflect the additional instruction. Excessive absences will affect a student’s ability to perform. Additional rehearsals outside of class time may be required. Costume fees will be charged during the spring.
MAXIMUM PROGRESS can be observed in those students committed to taking multiple classes each week. Please note the classes that are to be taken together. A solid technical foundation is essential for progress and mastery in all forms of dance; therefore, ballet is required for all performing jazz and tap students and all ballet students are strongly recommended to take jazz to enhance training in coordination, flexibility, speed, and rhythm. Note the classes that require attendance in both ballet and jazz.
PLACEMENT: The Ballet classes are offered in nine levels and Jazz and Tap have five levels of instruction. All children progress and grow at their own rate. Students can expect to remain at each level two to three years and will be advanced to the next level when the material covered has been mastered. The decision to advance is made jointly by the faculty. Students may be moved to a different level during the semester as necessary. In Jazz, students may move into the advanced levels if they meet the teacher’s requirement for ballet technique.
TARDINESS: It is advised that students arrive 15 minutes before the start of each class, so that they will be prepared to begin at the scheduled class time. The early part of each class is devoted to essential warm-up; it is up to the discretion of the teacher to allow a student arriving late to join a class already in progress.
At the discretion of the faculty, a limited number of make-up classes will be available for those students who have "excused absences." Make-ups cannot be held over to another semester. When possible, please notify your teacher in advance of any planned absences.
Dance classes can be strenuous. If you have a question regarding your health, please consult your physician before registering for a dance class.
