Gallery Submissions Process
2012/2013 Academic Year

We accept proposals in all media for the School of Art Gallery. Artists selected will receive a small stipend and the School of Art will pay for the production and mailing of an exhibition postcard. Professional working artists may apply. Selected artists will be provided an opportunity to offer a gallery talk/and/or presentation to PrattMWP students and community members.

Please submit

  • cover letter
  • 10 slides or digital images 300 DPI JPEG or TIFF, minimum size 5 x 7
  • Corresponding list, include all: caption, title, medium, size and origination date
  • Resume of recent work

SINGLE CHANNEL VIDEO:

  • A NTSC DVD with a 5-minute video highlighting your recent work or a NTSC DVD of the video you would like to exhibit. We will also accept a link to your website that hosts quicktime movies of your video work. You will need to provide a looped, automatically starting NTSC DVD if your work is accepted.
  • DVDs should be playable on any standard DVD player and should not require a computer to be viewed.
  • We cannot preview Blu-Ray or HD-DVD.
  • Label all materials with your name, project title and duration of piece.
  • Artist's statement of no more than 300 words. Include a description of the concept and intent of your work.

VIDEO/AUDIO INSTALLATIONS OR INTERACTIVE ART OBJECTS:

  • For visual installations:- drawings or, for completed pieces, one digital image of the highest quality possible, pixel resolution of at least 1500 x 1200, at least 300 dpi at 4 inches tall x 5 inches wide, TIFF files, no compression, MAC or PC platforms. Images must be submitted on cd or dvd in digital format. If necessary, please include a second image to show a detail of your work.
  • For audio installations, audio files in the MP3, AIF or WAV format.
  • A detailed floor plan (PDF) including minimum floor space required, dimensions of all components, lighting, audio, power, and network requirements. Include a list of required hardware and software that you will provide.
  • Please explain all installation information such as if it’s a projection, played on a monitor, is it interactive, is their sound that plays as an integral part of the work, and/or is the video part of a bigger art installation?
  • Artist's statement of no more than 300 words. Include a description of the concept and intent of your work.
  • Optional but highly recommended, videos on DVD or in a cross-platform viewable format (QuickTime, MPEG) that describe the installation. We will also accept a link to your website that hosts quicktime movies.<
