Holloware: Forming Metal Vessels

Ages 18 + | All Levels | With Luke Towne

For millennia, metalsmiths have played with the inherent malleability of metal to shape vessels that are uniquely functional, decorative, and ceremonial. This class introduces the essential techniques to transform a flat sheet of copper into a dimensional, hollow form. Be it utilitarian or purely decorative, we will fabricate two pieces: a bowl and a vessel/cup. Processes covered include annealing as well as sinking and raising by hammering against a steel stake. Beginners are welcome!
