MINI-COURSE | SALT-FIRED CERAMICS

Salt firing is embraced by ceramic artists and potters because of the beautiful and unanticipated results that come from a salt-fired kiln. These four-week workshops will explore form, function, aesthetic values, textures, tactile qualities, and surface development of atmospheric firing through salt. All works will be made from start to finish during the course. Prerequisite: Two semesters of Intro to Pottery and/or previous ceramics experience. 

Wednesdays, 6 - 9 p.m. | 3/22 - 4/19
5 classes | 15 contact hours
Location: Ceramics Studios, 1211 State Street (Enter through Museum side of building near Fountain Elms)

FIRING TICKETS
Firing fees are based on the measured volume of the finished pieces. Firing tickets are $2 each and available for purchase at the School of Art reception desk during business hours.

MATERIAL FEES
Required material fees cover the cost of full use of studio clay and glazes.

OPEN STUDIO TIMES
Students currently enrolled in an adult ceramics class may take advantage of open studio hours on Saturdays or Sundays from 8am - noon or 1-5pm. Open studio spots are limited and must be registered for in advance of attending via digital signup.

SPRING BREAK
No classes or open studio the week of March 13 - 19.

CLASS NOTE
Ceramics courses may sometimes require light lifting. Students should be able to occasionally lift up to 25 lbs.
